About Dr. Dougan
Growing up on Vancouver Island, I developed a certain admiration for our natural environment which later lead to an interest in the nature of the human body.
Previously a competitive synchronized swimmer turned snowboarder, mountain biker, and yogi, I recognize that our bodies do a lot for us. It's my goal to encourage others to cultivate this appreciation in order to preserve health so we can continue doing what we love.
Sustainable medicine is something I am passionate about, and the discovery of Naturopathic Medicine was one of those “ah-hah” moments. Having been through my own journey of digestive issues impacting my mental health, it wasn't until I came across a doctor that was willing to think outside the box that my health started to improve.
My dedication to supporting mood and mental wellbeing evolved from watching so many people around me struggle with stress, lack of sleep, hormonal mood changes, anxiety, depression, and overall “blah” feeling. Just because mental health concerns are so common does not mean we have to live with them. And the more we talk about mental health the closer we can get to finding solutions.
I nourish my own health through mindfulness and introspection, good food, music, physical activity, and spending time with my people. You can often find me on my yoga mat, biking, snowboarding, trail running, or in the kitchen trying a new recipe listening to Norah Jones. I also love to travel and explore new places.
